My Brother Jon,

The intensity of emotion in 'Ask Me Now' moved me to tears today, as it has before. I was listening to Carmen's 'Carmen Sings Monk' and shared it with my sweetie, and we were both blown away. (Definitely a scene from my life.) So clear an expression of wonder at the scope of loss when one has had a chance to love truly and lost it. We recovered our love, despite my early stupidity, and are now blessed again.

Thank you Jon, for bringing such beauty into the mix, and saying the things we all wish we could say.

Please let me know how to find out when and if you'll be playing or teaching in Portland Oregon. I'd love to hear you again ( last time was in Eugene OR in '77?) and share with you my dream of creating a business incubator for jazz musicians.

I'll try to catch you in Monterey.
